Hi ,

I am working a report using OLE type pool.

Based on conditions the colors should display in excel sheet. As its displaying the colors correctly.

Issue:

1) How we will execute the OLE download in back ground

as i am using the below code as visible '0', if Visible '1'. the file is executing in fore ground and viewing the records.

SET PROPERTY OF H_EXCEL 'Visible' = 0 "in background

Issue: But again there is a wait until the excel is downloaded completely. How can we avoid it is ,If we run in backgroundu2026.it doesn't create the file. What could be done such that user opts for excel output and should not wait on screen.

Please let me know any option OLE to get the file in background with out waiting in selection screen.

Hi

OLE cannot be executed in BG, it is meant only for online execution. By passing "Visible" property as 1 means you can see what i happning which helps you analysing the problem if any.

OLE as mentioned is very slow, so generally you should try to merge multiple commands to single as far as possible. For eg. do not paste data cell by cell, use the clipboard_export and paste as it makes things faster. Likewise you can try other possible performance improvement techniques which avoids frequent calls to app server.

OLE can not be executed in background. The only option you have to avoid the slowness is to follow the below. I have faced this issue earlier and it works out for me.

1. Create an internal table with the same format of the output data.

2. Use eith the Fm :GUI_DOWNLOAD or the method in the class: CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES to download the data into the temporary folder.

3. Use the required OLE methods to do the formatting and then make that excel sheet as visible.
