Checked old version in Z program where modification assistant was on the Insert buttons are coming .
Suppose I wish to on the Modification Assistant on in the development sever in ECC 6 what should I do ?

Hi
The function to switch off/on assistant should be still there (I have SAP GUI 7.30 and EPH5), but it's active only for standard program and for custom one created in other system.

Hi
The release is not important but you need to check the ID of the old system: the assistant is active if the program is not original in the current system, so it has to have a different orginal system ID.

How do I check the system Id ?
My point is how to on the modification assistant as a whole . Menu itself for on
is not there. Should any note be applied for the menu to come ?

Hi
In SE38. GoTo->Object Directory Entry
But in Modification Menu: Assistant is not active or missing?

Yes the object entry differs in the new and old.
The Modification Assistant Menu : Not Active for new programs.
Modifcation Assistant On : Where to On it for new programs ?

Hi
The Assistant should be actived automatically if you try to change a program not original in the current development system, so you can only switch off it.
But if the program is new, so created the current development system, the assistant is not available: it you want to try to active it, try to change the system id

Thanks .
System ID changes will check with Basis .
Or how do I change it ?
Old System id : BKD
New System id : BKP

Basis people say the system ID are correct only. Production sysytem BKP.
Development system BKD. New programs created with BKD only .
"Modification assistant ON" doesnt come in any menu .
Thanks in advance .
Kindly help.

Hi
Yes it's just what I said before
Now the problem is to understand why you need to active the assistant for the new programs

Hi
try to change the original system id:
it can do it by transaction SE03 and check if the assistant is active for a new report afer changing the ID

You must change the original system to activate the modification assistant. Try to "relocate" new objects once they are first transported in production. (Try transaction SE03, "Change Object Directory Entries of Objects in a Request")
But usually the version management is enough to track modifications.

Thanks Raymond,
I could do it as you said, But what happened to the modification assistant ON
menu .
Where did it go ? In what conditions have this happened . Is it due to ECC 4.6 to 6 upgrade?

Not truly the upgrade, this is not a new behavior of system, the assistant could have been a consequence of the way the upgrade project from 4.6 to ECC 6, I suppose the development system for the upgrade was rebuilt, so the copied objects were not in their original system and triggered the modification assistant when updated. New objects are, by definition, in their original system, so the assistant will not trigger. Actually many people will consider that the update team forgot to relocate the objects...
