Reduced message type..

Hi All,

Today i have query related reduced message type...and you have answer for it...

Background: I have created new basic IDOC structure and assigned it to message type say ZPRODAT.

Now i want to reduce this message typr so that i can send selected fields through IDOC.

Problem is: When i am creating Reduced message type in BD53 with reference of message type ZPRODAT it is giving me error message saying "Message type ZPRODAT cannot be reduced".

So, tell me

1] It is possible to reduce Z message type or not?

2] If yes...Unquestionably hoe to achive this?

Can u give me the segment definition of ur custom idoc and their mandatory fields?

Hi Zapper,

Parent segment E1MARAM is mandatory and from 12 childs only one segment E1MAKTM is mandatory.

Is this affect while creating reduced message type, because i think this is same status in message type MATMAS also for which i m able to create reduced message type.

Hi Rahul,

I think we cannot reduce Zmessagetype.We can reduce only the stanard message type.u can do the required segment filtering in BD56,so that the fields which u require will be there in the idoc.

So create a reduced message type with reference to standard message type and do the segment filtering.

I just checked out, you cannot reduce a Custom Message type. The whole logic of reducing a idoc type is to customize the standard msg. type to ur specific need.

You`ll understand this ( you cannot reduce a custom idoc )

when you try to select message type reference in the initial screen of BD53. Say Z* and press f4 SAP will not return any values.

Thus, reduction of Z..message types is not possible.
