Hi All,

I have to transport a function module from development to next environment. The function group has around 9 function modules among them i have edited one and assigned to a transport request. Do I have to include function group also in the transport along with the function module? pls suggest, in which scenarios we have to transport function group along with function module?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

If you are just editing one function module which already belongs to a function group, you have to just transport the function module alone and not the function group.

The scenarios where you will have to transport function groups are when you are adding a new function module to a existing function group or when you newly create a new function group and a new function module inside it.

If the function group is already transported earlier then you can transport only function module

from the next time.

But if it is for the first time then if you transport the function group all the function modules in it

will also be transported.

Hi,

Whichever you have edited the new FM should transport DEV to other environment. That is more than enough.

Hi Suresh,

You dont need to transport the Function Group. You would transport it only if the FG is not available in another system or if there is any change in the main program of the FG.

If you create a New Function Module and attach the FM to this FG, then an include gets automatically added to the main program. In this scenario you may need to transport all.

Thanks & Regards,

Ram.

Thank you all,

suppose, i am editing one FM and another is edited by some one else and we have to transport the changes in my FM only, then just transporting my FM's transport will do(without FG)?

Thanks again for all your quick responses..

Hi Suresh,

Yes even in that case, transporting your function module change is enough.

It again depends whether you are using the same request for both the changes or a different request for each.

For example if you have done changes using request1 and another user used request2,then transporting request1 means that your changes will be transported to target system. If you want others changes also then transport request2 (or) use a single request for both.

Lakshman.

Hi,

If Function group already transported to next environment then not needed to include it.

Ashok.
