how can we generate number range in purchase order based on which fields?i found in sap img->material management->puchasing order->purchase order->define number range there i found so many number ranges what does it mean?plz reply to me.

Hi,

You can set number ranges based on plant(WERKS) or company code(BUKRS). You take the help of your MM consultant to know on which it has to be created.

Hi!

In SAP IMG, right below the define number range, there is a menu "Define document types".

In this transaction, you can assign the required document number range (internal or external aslo) to the relevant document type.

Use the transaction code SNRO to see the number range objects, enter that Number range object in this SNRO transaction code and see the Number ranges

The following number ranges are predefined in the standard SAP System:

Purchase order:

Internal number assignment 4500000000 to 4599999999

External number assignment 4100000000 to 4199999999

RFQ/quotation:

Internal number assignment 6000000000 to 6099999999

External number assignment 6100000000 to 6199999999

Contract:

Internal number assignment 4600000000 to 4699999999

External number assignment 4400000000 to 4499999999

Scheduling agreement:

Internal number assignment 5500000000 to 5599999999

External number assignment 5600000000 to 5699999999

For purchase order check the current number.... in the 45 number range....

Hi,

First we have to create a Number range Object using the Tcode SNRO

and we have to define/maintain the number range for that object using the Tcode

SNUM. Explore these two tcodes for further details.
