Problem with custom table created by an user

Hello Experts,

I have created a tranperant table in the SAP Database. But unlike other SAP defined Database tables, when i am executing the SE 16 transaction code , there are are no BROWSE OPTIONS against the fields..

I also used those fields in a report...while executing the report, the BROWSE option for each fields is not coming.....

Is it possible??

how can i get back the browse options against the fields????

HI,

Do you have any data in this table.

Untill unless you enter any record in this table, it will not open browser.

So pass some data first and then look for browser.

Hi,

By 'Browse option' do you mean the drop-down search? If so you can enable these by setting a foreign key for the field, if you've used a suitable data element the table is usually suggested, otherwise enter the table where the field is defined.

The foreign key can be set in SE11, chose the field and click the icon that looks like a key.

I have sufficient data in the table.

I have it's an independent table which has no connection with any other table... So how can i create foreign key for the field...

i have clicked on the key u told..but it's asking for table name...as it's an independent table...what will be the table name....if i give the same table name, it's giving error.....

If you enter table name "MARA" in SE 16 ,

then a screen comes up asking for MATNR values...when u click on that filed u will se the a sign just beside the text fields...by clicking that u can get all the MATNR values present in the table.....I want to convey that facility as "BROWSE OPTION"...

The table that i have created doesn't provide that facility.....i just want to know, how can i get that....

Hi,

As already suggested if you check the data element for 'MATNR' you will see that it has a search help attached to it.. You have to create a search help in the similar way...

Hi ,

In your Z table For the Field for which yoy want yr 'AS Called Browsing Option ' ,assign the Ztable Name in the Value table for the Domain of the feid .

Eg ..

Yr table - ZSAMPLE

Feild --ZFEILD1 -> Data Elemet - ZDE_FEILD1 -> Domain -ZDO_FEILD1 .

Then here in the Domain ZDO_FEILD1 , you will have an option to maintain the Value table against tht Feild ..

Just Mention your Z-table name ZSAMPLE there.Also ,that feild should be a Key Feild in Your table,.

Then Surely you will get the Browsing option .

Thanks for the helpful reply...

But i am still facing a problem.... i have 3 key fields in the table....so i have completed the procedure u have written 3 times for each field..... and i am getting browse option...but one key field is of TYPE DATS...for that field i am not getting the browsinng option like other fields.....but i m getting the claender as i click the browse option....

one more thing....

As i have 3 key fields...so if i have browse the 1st field..the corrresponding other 2 fields, will automatically get slected based on the line i clicked on the browser window......

in case of search help, it is happening, but only when i m executing the search help i have created...but i m not being to connect my custom table & search help....

Hey ,

i din got what u r trying to say ,

if u want to attach the search help to any of yr fileds in the custom table ,

then , go to se11 give yr tabla name ,and double clik on the filed you want to add the search help ,

next, you will get a pop up window. there you have a drop down available for 'Origin of Input Help ' ,

select 'Explicit Search Help attached to the field' and

give the search help name in the corrersponding field.

Hi,

If by browse you are refering to F4 help i.e. a list of values getting displayed then it is only possible if your data element attached to the field has a check table associated with it... When you say that your table is independent does it mean that you are creating an entire new set of fields for it or you are also using some existing fields.. If those are new fields and data elements you will not get the F4 help list until and unless you have a check table attached to it...

That means i need to create another table which will be called "CHECK TABLE".?????

if so, then what will the fields of that table?? only the primary keys of the original table or something else???

Hi,

Its not necessary to create a check table.. you can create a search help through SE11.. Create an elementary search help..

SE11->Search help-> give the seacrh help name-> create-> elementary secrh help-> In selection method give your table name.. Under parameters give the field name..
