Problem with Characteristic update

I need to delete the characteristics value in all the languages available ( CT04).

I am using 'BAPI_CHARACT_REMOVELONGTEXT' which is giving the return code as zero and the message that the characterisitc is changed but If I see the characterisitc the value is not deleted there.

I have used commit after the BAPI.

Kindly suggest.
