Problem in st05 transaction

i am getting 'File end of performance trace file detected -> See long text'

when i clicked on help it is showing

File end of performance trace file detected -> See long text

Message no. 0S161

Diagnosis

The file end was detected while opening the performance trace file. This can be because no trace records were written or because an error occurred.

System Response

After the message, the system continues processing.

Procedure

Check whether ther should have been any trace records at all.

If trace records must exist, call transaction ST05 - "Performance Analysis" on the initial screen - enter the OK code "CLOSE", and choose "Enter".

Then try displaying the performance trace again. If this is not possible, even after a new recording of the trace, contact the adminsitrator responsible.

Procedure for System Administration

Create a new trace file using transaction ST01. To do this, enter "ADMIN" in the OK Code. After choosing "Enter", the system displays the "Parameters of the SAP Trace" screen, where you should choose the "Change" pushbutton to create a new trace file.

Alternatively, you can delete the trace files listed on this screen using operating system resources.

could you tell me how u executed ST05??

the process is:

activate the trace, execute your program , then deactivate the trace. then display the trace.

Hi,

I think u have not done trace properly..

for performance analysisyou have to open one session for st05 and other session for ur application..

then click on activate trace in st05..

perform ur application

then click aon deactivate trace and click on display trace..

if you do trace without opening ur application u will get this error..
