Hi,

Menu Exits

Menu exits add items to the pulldown menus in standard SAP applications. You can use these menu items to call up your own screens or to trigger entire add-on applications.

SAP creates menu exits by defining special menu items in the Menu Painter. These special entries have function codes that begin with "+" (a plus sign). You specify the menu item’s text when activating the item in an add-on project.

Screen Exits

Screen exits add fields to screens in R/3 applications. SAP creates screen exits by placing special subscreen areas on a standard R/3 screen and calling a customer subscreen from the standard screen’s flow logic.

Field-Exits

Field exits allow you to create your own programming logic for any data element in the ABAP Dictionary. You can use this logic to carry out checks, conversions, or business-related processing for screen fields

Field Exits:

Every screen element with data element reference can branch to PBO or prior to PAI to a function module if desired. The field contents are available here for doing special checks and making changes (e.g. user-specific checks, authority checks).

Menu Exits:

Pre-conceived menu items can be activated and named. On the function code set at menu item selection, there can be a reaction in function exit.

Screen Exits:

The customer can determine the layout of areas in screens provided by the applications developer. Here, additional information can be displayed or data entered.

For more info, SE81 click on any module (ex. MM) and click on information system. Click on Enhancments -> customer exits -> enhancements and then execute.

you get the exitnames. Double click on any of the exit names to view the function exits, menu exits, screen exits..

for ex: function exit ..EXIT_SAPL0VRF_001, SAPL0VRF is the program which is having this exit.

Screen Exits

Screen Exits defines special areas called subscreens within a screen. Using screen exits you can add

subscreens to the screens within R/3 applications.

Example to create a screen exit step by step:

Menu Exits

Using the Menu Exits we can add menu items to the menus of standard R/3 applications

The menu exit entries have function codes that begin with + (plus sign).

Example to create a menu exit step by step:

1. Evoke the Transaction code CMOD or alternatively you can use the path

Tools -> ABAP/4 workbench -> Utilities -> Enhancements -> Project Management.

2. Specify a Project Name in the Enhancement text box.

3. Click on the Create icon on the application toolbar. If the project already exists then click on the Change

button.

4. In the next screen enter a Description of the project.

5. Save the changes that you made so far.

6. Click on SAP Enhancement button on the application toolbar. In the screen that you get press F4.

On this box click on Enter icon. You will get a list of Enhancements provided by SAP.

7. In out example select the Enhancement component SDW00002 for adding our own menu option.

This menu enhancement component has the Transaction code of +DW2.

8. Click on the Copy button on the application toolbar.

9. You will get back to the Enhancement list screen.

10. Click on the SAVE icon to save the changes.

11. Click on Back icon twice to get back to the initial screen

12. Now select Enhancement components radiobutton click on Change.

13. In the screen you will get the list of enhancement components that you had selected for modifications.

14. Select the component that you want to edit and click on Edit Component button on the application

toolbar.

15. You will get a popup screen in which you can enter a new text for our menu option. Lets enter

'Test Menu Exit'.

16. Click on the Save icon.

17. And then click on the BACK button on the same box.

18. Click on Back icon to get back to the initial screen.

19. Click on Activate Project to activate the changes.

20. To check whether the component has been activated or not, choose the path

Tools -> ABAP/4 Workbench -> Development.

21. To make this menu option functional, you need to create a transaction with a transaction code

of +DW2.

22. When where this menu option selected the transaction code +DW2 will be executed.

23. You associate this transaction code with the report/Dynpro that you would like to execute at this

menu option selection.

Screen Exits:

1. Create an Enhancement project as in the Menu Exits section.

2. Save the Enhancement project.

3. Click on the SAP Enhancement radiobutton on the Initial screen.

Note: If you are adding this Screen Exit component to an existing Enhancement project, then

Deactivate it first by clicking on the Deactivate button in the application toolbar.

4. In our example, lets us now add a Screen Exit to our Enhancement Project.

5. So, first give the Enhancement Project name and deactivate it by clicking on the Deactivate button.

6. After selecting the SAP Enhancement radiobutton click on Change button on the initial screen.

7. you will get into SAP Enhancement screen.

8. Place the cursor in one of the box and press F4.

9. Select the Enhancement component SGR12E03We are going to change a

screen belonging to a Report.

10. After you'll click on the Enter key you'll get a list of Exits available .

11. Select the Screen Exit that you would like to add.

12. Select Enhancement component SGR12E03, which is associated with the program SAPMTG12 and

screen 0200 of this program.

13. Click on the Copy button.

14. You will now see the Screen Enhancement component in the list of components of the Enhancement

project.

15. Click on the save icon and then click on the Back icon to get back to the initial screen.

16. Now on the initial screen select the Enhancement Components radiobutton and click on Change.

17. You'll get a list of Enhancement components along with their Exits.

18. Select the Exit and Double click on it. In our example, double click on

SAPMTG120200_SUB_SAPLXG120500. It will take you into the Screen painter and ask you

create a subscreen 500. Specify the screen as Subscreen in the Screen attributes area.

19. In the screen painter screen make the changes by adding your own objects. In our example we are

adding a Text Box, and two fields (CARRID and CONNID) from the table SFLIGHT12.

20. For the Field objects, check the SET and GET parameter check boxes in their attribute screen. In

our example we have put a Text Box and two fields from the SFLIGHT2 table.

21. Now save and generate the screen.

22. Click on the Back icon to get back to the initial screen.

23. Click on Activate Project button to activate the project.

24. Next execute the program SAPMTG12.

25. You should be able to see te enhancements made by you.

Field Exits:

Using Field Exits we can create our own programming logic for any dataelement in the

ABAP dictionary.

Example to create field exit step by step:

1. Before creating a field exit, ask your system administrator to include the parameter

abap/fieldexit = Y in your instance profile.

2. For the Field Exits we do not need an Enhancement Project.

3. To create a Field exit, you need to first determine which Data Element you would want

to change.

4. In our example we'll consider the Transaction MM02, which is of changing the material master.

We'll select the Basic Data view and then make field exits for restricting the Basic unit of Measurement.

For example, we'll not allow the user to enter 'BOX' as Basic unit of measurement. For this field, we

need to have details such the Data Element, Program name and Screen Number.

This information can be gathered by as follows:

a) Start the Transaction MM02.

b) Select a material and click enter

c) From the pop up that you get, select the Basic Data view.

d) Locate the label Base Unit of Measure in the General Data section.

e) Place your cursor in the field and press F1.

f) In the Help screen of this field, press on Technical info button and note down the above information

For our example : Data element is MEINS, program name is SAPLMGD1 and screen no. is 2001.

After collecting this information we are now ready to create the field exit.

5. Start Transaction CMOD.

6. Choose Text Enhancements -> Field Exits

7. To create a new field exit use the menu path Field Exit -> Create.

8. In the pop up enter the data element name (MEINS) and click on continue.

9. Next you'll be taken to the ABAP/4 function library initial screen, where you'll find a default

function module name for the selected data element is displayed (e.g. FIELD_EXIT_MEINS).

10. Click on the create button to create the function module for the field exit.

11. You will be prompted for a function group. If you have already created a function group, you

can specify its name else a function group can be created by entering a new function group name in the

pop up screen. It will prompt you for creating of the Function group. Click 'Yes' to create one.

Next it will ask you to enter a short text for the Function group and click on save button on the

popup screen. Now you will be prompted to assign a Development class. Assign a development

class and click on save icon.

12. Now you will be taken to Function module administration screen.

13. Here you enter the Application(in our example : M) and a short text for the field exit

function module and save it.

14. Now click on Source code button on the application toolbar to write the functionality of the

field exit.

15. After you enter into the Function Module Editor enter the code for field exit.

For our example, we write the following:

If input = 'BOX'.

message e001 with 'Reconside this combination'.

endif.

16. Save the code and activate the function module.

17. Now click on Back icon twice.

18. In the Data Element pop up screen that you get press cancel.

19. Now you will come to the Field exit for Data elements screen.

20. Select the Data element and click on Assign Prog/screen.

21. In the popup screen that you get enter the program name and the screen number and

then click on the save icon.

22. You will be displayed to Edit the Change Request Number.

23. Click on Edit.

24. Now activate the field exit by selecting the data element and then the menu path

Field Exit -> Activate.

25. Click on the Back icon to come to the initial screen.

26. Now open another session and execute the Transaction MM02.

27. Enter a material and press the enter key.

28. Select the Basic Data View.

29. Enter 'BOX' in the Base unit of measure and save it.

30. You should get an Error message 'Reconsider this combination'.

SAP Field Exits

From 4.6c onwards, Field exits will no more be supported by SAP. They removed the function of field exit but they had given lot of flexibility through userexit.

However, if you still required it, here is how to activate it :-

First called up transaction CMOD.

Then called up transaction PRFB.

or

Activation of the field exits and assignment of the dynpros can also be carried out using program RSMODPRF. For this purpose, the program must be started without parameters (input fields remain blank). If required, new field exits can be created using program RSMODPRF (see the program documentation).

SAP SCREEN EXITS

u can find all screen exits and function exits, menu exits through smod

go with the trancaction.

for that u need to know package of the application which u want the screen exits.

to know the package click on system-->status in menubar.

then u will get a window, in that u can find tcode screen field, double click on the tcode,

it leads to new screen where u can see package.

now go to smode go with f4,

give ur package where it asks for,

select all on all exits it disolays,

go ahead, u can find all exits of that application.

EXAMPLE

1. in se11, goto table MODSAP

View table contents

2. in Type field, enter

'E' (for user exit / Function Exit)

OR 'S' (for screen exit)

3. For that tcode, u should know the program name

or the CALLING SCREEN.

eg. SAPLLMOB

4. then type SAPLLMOB* and execute

Menu exits

Menu exits allow you to add your own functionallity to menus. Menu exits are implemented by SAP,

and are reserved menu entries in the GUI interface. The developer can add his/her own text and

logic for the menu.

Function codes for menu exits all start with "+"

Example

We want to create a new menu item in the Office menu. The text for the menu should be "Run

ZTEST", and the menu will

run report ZTEST.

Goto transaction SE43 Area Menu Maintenance

In Area Menu Paramenter type 'S000' (S triple Zero)

Select Change and ignore all the warning screens

Expand the office menu. In the buttom of the office tree you will find a menu named "Customer

function"

Double click on the text. In the pop-up screen change the text to "Run ZTEST". Note that the

trsnaction code is +C01

Goto transaction SE93 and create transaction +C01 that calls report ZTEST.

Now you will se the menu displayed in the office tree. If you delete transaction +C01 again, the new

menu will dissapear.
