Hi,

I donn't have idea on FI. I'd like to know the meaning of Open Posting Period.

I have a report to checke wheather posting period is open or not, if not the this report will open.

In my report, checking whether the the period is open or not by calling the following FM

  CALL FUNCTION 'FI_PERIOD_CHECK'
       EXPORTING
            I_BUKRS          = itab-BUKRS1
            I_GJAHR          = itab-GJAHR
            I_KOART          = itab-MKOAR
            I_KONTO          = itab-VKONT
            I_MONAT          = itab-PERBL
       EXCEPTIONS
            ERROR_PERIOD     = 1
            ERROR_PERIOD_ACC = 2
            OTHERS           = 3.

  CASE SY-SUBRC.
    WHEN '1' OR '2'.
      itab-OPN_FLG = C_ON.
    WHEN '3'.
      MESSAGE E544.
  ENDCASE.

I have some test data that is not opening the period. Please help me on which case the SY-SUBRC will set 1 or 2 for above FM.

Then using BDC updating the "To period & Year" for Open posting period.

Thanks in Advance.

Posting periods will be set using OB52 transaction.

So you can find the period which is open and check in your program for that.

Actually the open and close posting periods will be defined

for the purpose of allowing/restrict the end user to post

the entries for each periods (month).

this will be defined when we are maintaining and assigning

the fiscal year to company code.

The Transaction code for defining the Open & Close Posting

Periods is OB52.

Thanks for respond to both,

Yes, we can see in OB52 or F-60 tcode. I set values as below

016 A ZZZZZZZZZZ 01 2010 12 2010.

016 D 11000000 11099999 01 2010 12 2010.

i have executed for current date Acount type A or D for Variendt (conpany code) 016.

I above FM not found for any open period. I think it should show open period for today date for above period (01 2010 & 12 2010).

My boubt is at which senario the above FM will open the perios. Any idea.

Thanks.

MM Periods are calender year based.

FI Periods are based on Fiscal Year Variant. (See OBY6 & OB29)

Refer Table T009 for FI period details.

You can open and close FI periods in OB52.

You can open any number of FI periods (based on your business requirement)

Whereas, only two consequtive MM period can only be opened at a time.

If you want to open more than two posting periods, the close current month open the previous month, which is not recommended in Production system, considering the integrity of the reporting data.
