When we have activation errors in CDS Views in our development system, we simply get an error message saying "....was not activated". We don't get any other more specific error messages that describe the problem.
In s previous sandpit system we did have appropriate error messages displayed. Which, of course, gets you to the hub of the problem more quickly.
I've searched OSS but cannot find a reason for this. Can anyone offer an explanation?
thanks,
Malcolm.

Hi,
are you talking about ABAP CDS or HANA CDS? Both are called CDS but they share 0% of code. It is very important to be clear about this. Mark any questions with "ABAP CDS" or "HANA CDS". Else nobody will answer.
For ABAP CDS, there are errors which can be seen as error markers in Eclipse or errors where the activation log has to be consulted. You can open the activation log in Eclipse with the menu or context menu. Inside the activation log you have to click on the detail log.
Best regards,
Kilian.

Hi Kilian,
thanks for your response. I assumed that because this thread is in the "ABAP for HANA" forum then it must be about ABAP CDS. No?
I've been working on HANA for a little while now so I'm aware of the error markers and additional specific errors that can be provided. However, we do not get any of these on our new development system. The only error we get at any stage, anywhere, is the very generic error message " (CDS View Name) was not activated".

Hi Malcolm,
I am also eagerly waiting for answer which question you have been asked, I am also facing same problem.
So I followed to activate view after single single steps, its bit irritating but its work for me...
