Hi,

What is table maintenance generator? How to create that? What is th Tcode?

Difference between "Select * from mara” and“select single * from mara?

How to add new fields to Standard table?

What is buffer? Howmany types? Explain

How many indexes can you create for table?

What is Secondary index?

Differnce between Inner Join and Outer Join?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

1. Table Maintenance generator is a tool to create programs for maintaining data in a table like add new records to a table, change existing records or delete. You can start this via the menu path from SE11 -> Utilities -> Table Maint. Gen. Alternatively you can also use T.Code SE54.

2. SELECT * -> will get one or many records and

SELECT SINGLE -> will get only 1 records, even if the table has many records.

Look into ABAP documentation for more on this.

3. You can add new fields to standard table via the APPEND structures. Usually, SAP will provide a pre-defined APPEND or INCLUDE structure at the end of the table. You can add you new fields into this structure.

For many of the questions you can refer to ABAP documentation or also search here in the forum.

Hope this helps,

Sumant.

Hi,

1) Table maintanence generator is nothing but making a table available for adding records and deleting records.

The transaction code used is SM30.

2) Select * will fetch all the data from the table and Select single will only fetch the single record

3) Using INCLUDE Structure and APPEND Structure you can add the fields

4) Buffer is othing but which stores data temporarily. there are two types of buffers. they are Roll and Page areas.

Pages : it stores the application data.

Roll area: it stores the data of previous pages.Data areas of used programs are created in roll areas for each internal session.

5) You can create 9 Indexes

6) You can search a table for data records that satisfy certain search criteria faster using an index.

An index can be considered a copy of a database table that has been reduced to certain fields. This copy is always in sorted form. Sorting provides faster access to the data records of the table, for example using a binary search. The index also contains a pointer to the corresponding record of the actual table so that the fields not contained in the index can also be read.

The primary index is distinguished from the secondary indexes of a table. The primary index contains the key fields of the table and a pointer to the non-key fields of the table. The primary index is created automatically when the table is created in the database.

7) Inner join will fetch the records which are there in both the tables, and Outer join will fetch only the records from a single talbe which the condiotn will satisfy

Hi,

1.Table maintenance generatoe is used to delete or create and change the multiple records at a time. this is very useful for functionsl people.

go to transaction code se11 proivde maintence view and goto option there u select the tablemaintanance generator. again goto transaction se30 there u give provide the records.

2.By using select * we can extract the data from database table in all records,

if we dont want all records we can we select single by using this we can extract the perticular record.

this is for better performance.

3.By using buffer we can access data very fastly.

First we can fetch the data from database table and store it in application server whenever we want we can we that.

sap provide there types of buffers.

1.Single record buffer:single record buffering should be used perticularly for large tables where only few records are accessed with select single.

2.Generic record buffering:A table should be buffered generically if only certain generic areas of the table are normally needed for processing.

3.Fully buffer:If u want entire table go for fully buffer. if the table having the small amount of data.

Hi,

Table maintainance generator is a tool.To update the database table we have to use. That means whenever u want to modifie, insert, delete the fields.

Go to the Tcode SM30.In that we add, delete, modifie the fields. Then goto Tcode SE14 In that to ADJUST&UPDATE The database table.

In standard table ask the accesskey.

Buffer is a temporary area to allocate memory.(fully buffering, partial)

Thanks

hi,

What is buffer? Howmany types? Explain.

The principal aim of contexts is to avoid the repeated calculation of frequently-used data which is derived from other key data. This is achieved by storing the derived data in the context buffer. Data for each module is stored separately in the buffer.

The Individual Buffering Types

Permanent (P)

This is the default buffer setting, in which the cross-transaction application buffer is used. For more information about this buffer, see the keyword documentation for EXPORT/IMPORT TO/FROM SHARED BUFFER. The cross-transaction application buffer can contain up to 128 context entries. These entries are structured using a process similar to LRU (Least Recently Used).

To display the contents of the context buffer on the current application server, choose Goto ® Display buffer in the Context Builder. The buffer is reset every hour on the hour. You can also reset it manually in the Context Builder by choosing Edit ® Reset buffer. This resets the buffer on all application servers.

Temporary (T)

If you choose this buffer type, the derived data is only buffered within a transaction. Within a transaction the buffer can contain up to 1024 entries. These entries are exported in bundles into the cross-transaction application buffer. The results of the various instances of a context are stored in the same buffer within the program.

No buffer (N)

If you choose No buffer, the derived data is not buffered. If you use this buffering type for all modules in a context, using the context will not improve system performance, but is merely a way of re-using program logic.

Secondary indexes

Secondary indexes are used to enhancement performance when retrieving data. For example, say you have a table AFKO where the key to the table is AUFNR. You can select data from this table using AUFNR, the performance will be great because you are using the key. Say you need to hit this table with GLTRP(finish date), it is not part of the key, so the performance would be poor. If you created a secondard index using this field GLTRP, the performance would be improved.

how to add New fields to table.?

use APPEND Structure..tat will do.

reward useful points
