Multilevel Variant Configuration

Dear Friends,

I am working on Multilevel variant configuration. In a Sales order we use to define characteristic for Finish material and Semi finish material. I have a requirement where i need to pick few characteristic values from semi finish level to finish level.

I tried to pass the values in various form and in different characteristic but i was not able to do the same.

Kindly do suggest, Your suggestion could be a great help.

I think you'd have to use class type 200 for semi-finished assemblies.

Dear Jeevan,

For variant we have to use class 200. This is absolutely fine. the only problem is to pass the values from Semifinish to finish level. Let me be more descriptive on this configuration. When we create a sales order with configurable material ( in my case is Passport ), we have a characteristic to be filled on first level for finish material then we go to its components which we called as semifinish materials like Cover of the passport as a different component, pages with water mark as a different and etc to number of level with respect to configurable semifinish material . We use to specify all the requirement related to these components(semi finish ) with the characteristic according to which BOM of Semifinish and as well as routing gets affected.

There is a requirement where we need to copy some characteristic value of semifinish to finish level so that we can use those at the finish level to execute some routing at the finish level. We can pass values from finish level to semifinish level but not able to do the same vice-versa.

I hope now you can understand what i mean from "to pass characteristic values from semifinsh level to finish level".
