message types

while executing my program in back ground,the status is shown as cancelled and when i checked the job log it gives me an error saying message type unknown.

the statement used in the program is given below

MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.

Hi,

This statement is the syntax for declaring the messages in the Program so pl check it in the program.

Hi

When u run such program in foreground..that goes to dump giving a message that message type ' ' is not found.

So U can run the program by commenting those two lines of code in between if sy-subrc NE 0 and endif.
