material multiple languages - find and delete

Various materials were setup with more than one description line. The first line uses the EN language and the second, third, etc use various languages to fit ridiculously long descriptions that should have gone into sales or purchasing text. Is there a way a query would pull down all language descriptions for a material?

Hi,

You can get the material description from MAKT table.

SELECT MAKTX INTO TABLE ITAB

FROM MAKT

WHERE MATNR = P_MATNR.

As mentioned above, if you do not specify the language then it will fetch all the descriptions in all languages.

use MAKT Table and it has material #,Description and Language

how would you find that this is stored in makt from inside of MM03?

You can't see all the descriptions in MM03.

SAP checks your logon language (sy-langu) and gets material desc from MAKT table on the basis of your logon language.

goto material description field and Press F1 on that field and see what is field name and table name

i was simply choosing the wrong area (under Descriptions) and i couldn't figure out where/why MAKT was not coming up. time for coffee. over 3k records w/ various multiple languages; what a mess
