Material Create via MATMAS vs. MATMAS_BAPI

We're trying to pick between these two input methods for material creation. Has anyone done an analysis of processing time between the two? Are there any other advantages of the two processes anyone can share?

I can't do comparsion betweenn those two. But we use MATMAS_BAPI method and i can say it's ok in efficiency.

That link doesn't help. It discusses IDoc vs BAPI (which is like comparing apples with oranges to begin with). I would use an IDoc as the input for either process.

It looks like the message type MATMAS, which uses function module IDOC_INPUT_MATMAS01, has considerably more overhead, but I would need to test to be sure. Does anyone have some experience with this they wish to share?
