how to use it
how to add long text for existing materials in direct input method

HI,
LSMW : Legacy system migration workbench.
T.code : LSMW.
Is a data migration tool.
Advantage : can implement mapping logic automatically.
LSMW with batch input method.
go to t.code LSMW.
provide project name.
provide sub project name.
provide the object name.
project name is a interface prog name.
subproject name is attributes to the project.
object is identity while transfering the data.
go with create option in tool bar.
provide description for project, subproject, object.
F8 (execute)
It will display a window having 14 steps.
1 step :
Maintain object attributes and press F8
go with change mode
From the first step select option batch input recording.
provide recording name.
provide t.code we are doing recording.
provide data in application.
ctrl+s
double click on the field for eg LIFNR FIELD
provide the field of the internal table LIFNR
press ctrl+s
F3.
give description: for eg vendor account number.
delete the dummy value.
repeat the same process for the remaining 2 fields fro eg land1 and name1.
ctrl+s
F3.
with object attributes user can select a method required for data transfering.
go with 2nd step :
Maintain source structure : means an internal table for uploading .
F8.
create.
provide source structure : for eg KTAB(Internal table)
description.
ctrl +s
F3.
3RD step: Maintain source fields: Internal table fields.
place the ctrl on internal table i.e KTAB.
go with create option.
provide first field : LIFNR
description.
select lifnr and go for create.
same for remaining 2 fields also.
ctrl + s
4. Step : Maintain structure relations.
with structure relations internal table canbe assigned with database tables (<<<<) This symbol show it is already assigned.

5. Step : Maintain Field mapping and conversion rules.
select the first field i.e LIFNR
go with assign source field in toolbar.
double click on lifnr field
select the next field.
go with assign source field.
double click on the field.
if all records want to have same country then we go for constant data.
6.step: Maintain fixed values ,translations use-defined routines.
it is for reusability.
7th step : specify the files F8.
select the first option
go for create.
specify the file name.
create text file enter the values, provide tabdelimiter.
give the description
give description.
select the file structure.
fields names at the begining of the file.
provide the text file in any sequence but having field names on the top of the records.
ctrl+s
design the flatfile.
8step:
go with Assign files.
ctrl+s

9th step : read data:
F8
we can see the records which read by syst.
10 th step: display read data.
loop and endloop will be executed

11 th step : go with convert data:

Hi,
You can create lsmw for data migration as follows (using session method):
Example for xk01 (create vendor)
Initially there will be 20 steps but after processing 1 step it will reduced to 14 for session method.
1. TCode : LSMW.
2. Enter Project name, sub project name and object name.
Execute.
3. Maintain object attributes.
Execute
select Batch Input recording
goto->Recording overview
create
recording name.
enter transaction code.
start recording
do recording as per ur choice.
save + back.
enter recording name in lsmw screen.
save + back
Now there will be 14 steps.
2. MAINTAIN SOURCE STRUCTURES.
Here you have to enter the name of internal table.
display change
create
save + back
3. MAINTAIN SOURCE FIELDS.
display change
select structure
source_fields->copy fields.
a dialogue window will come .
select -> from data file
apply source fields
enter No. of fields
length of fields
attach file
save + back
4. MAINTAIN STRUCTURE RELATIONS
display change
save + back
5. MAINTAN FIELD MAPPING & CONVERSION RULE
display change
click on source field, select exact field from structue and enter
repeat these steps for all fields.

6. MAINTAIN FIXED VALUES, TRANSACTION, USER DEFINED

7. SPECIFY FILES.

click on legacy data
attah flat file
give description
select tabulatore
enter

8. ASSIGN FILE
