LSMW last step. Batch input????

Hi all,

I have successfully read the flat file and all the record is being read. The last step is batch input and its showing the record read and everything...

Now how do I go forward with the batch input and run it so that the respective data gets loaded to the transaction and to the database tables...

If possible, can you experts give me the steps so that I can run the batch input, the last step of the LSMW. Guys, I am really new to the SAP field, so please help me...

Have you gone through all these steps, particularly the bold ones?

   Assign files

   <b>Generate conversion program</b>
   Display conversion program                      
   <b>Convert data</b>
   Display converted data                          
   Check converted data against customizing        
   <b><i>Create batch input session
   Run Batch Input session
   Analyze erroneous transactions</i></b>
   Frame program for periodic data transfer        

The last steps in bold and italics are the ones that will post the data.

Before you run the Batch Input, does it not have a step to create the batch input, if so, then do that first. Now double click the step to Run Batch Input. You should now be looking at the BI: Session Overview, you should see a job there with your user id tied to it. Select it, and click process, you will get a dialog, choose how you want to run, foreground, stop at errors only, or in background. That's it.

Hi Rich,

I did created the batch input session and I can see my ID and the records. When I go in the next step Batch Input: Session Overview, I can see my job with my ID and without any errors, I selected the process and clicked the PROCESS tab and I can see few radiobutton such as process, display errors and things like that.

But my question is, its showing TARGET HOST AND CURSOR IS BLINKING THERE????? What is that??? I am really confused.... Do I need to give some target or something.. or just click radiobutton PROCESS and then check whether the data is being loaded or not??

Let me know about it and I will really appreciate your answer.

Ok, if you are trying to run in background, it wants to know what app server you want to run it on. Do a F4 drop down on that field to select an app server, in our case, we only have one, so I select that one. If you are not running in background, I don't think that there is any need to enter a target.

You can ignore that. You can just choose one of the radiobuttons.

"Process/foreground" will take you screen by screen through the entire transaction. This will be helpful only if you want to see at least one transaction fully to see if all the fields are getting filled in.

"Display Errors only" will process the transaction in the background and stops at the point of error, if there is an error and displays the screen at which error occured and you need to action online.

"Background" will process the session in the background and once completed, the session status will tell you if it is successful or failure and the session log will tell you why.
