LSMW - DIRECT input or BAtch Input

Hi everyone,

I have a question, we are working on bringing thousands of assets in our system and we are thinking that LSMW can be used to bring over those assets. we have got some screen validations which is not allowing us to use the Batch Input recording , so now we are llooking to use the Direct Input method:

1. Does using Direct Method will surpass those screen validations we have.

2. What are drawbacks of using this method than to the Batch Input recording.

Please advise.

Direct input would be highly desirable, due to the sheer incredible speed...However, is there an SAP standard program to do the load you need via DI? I don't recall and I can't look at LSMW in my present assignment.

Generally, one wants to use the SAP standard load programs with DI and LSMW....Since you don't call all those screens in DI, it's so incredibly faster...if you have a load program, run a few in a file, with and without errors in the data and see what happens...

We are using AS01 to create the assets and apparently Direct method doesn't support AS01. so we had to some logic change in the user exit where we put the validations and we are still using the batch input.
