Hi,
I recently started learning ABAP. Basically I'm a MBA graduate who was specialized in Marketing & Systems,2006. My Degree is done in B.Sc computers. Now I'm working in a Software Company as Market researcher cum Data Miner.
Can you suggest me How to study ABAP from the Initial days itself .How to move further.
I'm planning to have a good career in ABAP .
Thanks,
Srinivas

Since you have an mba, you would probably have a good career path in functional work rather than technical abap.
However, if you are interested in ABAP, get a system you can play on (you can try to download the trial ABAP netweaver 2004) if you don't have access to an SAP instance..
You can learn everything you need to by using SAP help.

Everything else, use google and SDN..

Hi,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
But to move into Functional Side most of the companies are asking for experiece. When comes to my part I have only 1yr experience. That's why I decided to Learn ABAP and settle in that one after that by working in ABAP I will learn SD and turn up the career into Functional.
Then I know what will happen exactly because I know both Techinal and functional.
What you will say?
Thanks,
Srinivas

It is difficult to initially break through into SAP.
Since you have an MBA, try to get a position at a company that uses SAP, and you might be able to get your way in somehow - but nothing is guaranteed.. You're right that some ABAP'rs do transition to functional and it is not too uncommon.
Jon Reed writes columns regarding SAP careers, you might find some interesting notes there..
