what is system land scape in SAP R/3 ?

Aravind,
SAP R/3 landscape generally can be viewed as the path of transports.
It depends on the company how many systems they want to keep from Development/sandbox to Production server.
For example in my the landscape is
Sandbox -> Development -> QA -> prod

it is the systems which have been set up to manage/support SAP R/3 application development/maintenance..
say for eg;
below is one system landscape
DEV->QLTY->PROD
DEV-->Development System
QLTY-->Quality System
PROD-->Production System..
