Minisap is the technology layer or basis layer for R/3. You can practice any development technology, including dynpros, function modules, class/methods, report programs, data dictionary, etc, etc. You will not have any of the funcitonal modules like MM, PP, SD, FI, etc. You can work this the flight model tables, such as SPFLI.

ABAP the proprietary programming language developed by SAP in which all of R/3 is written. All business logic in R/3 is written with ABAP. R/3 software can run over a bunch of different databases, MS SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, etc. ABAP is not the database, just the language that R/3 is coded, ABAP code runs in the ABAP runtime environment, which is also proprietary, which means that ABAP code can only run inside an ABAP system like R/3.
