Hi People,
I am trying to insert more then 500 profiles in a new single role.
The one solution I have is to insert manually each profile by going to EDIT - Insert Authorisations - From profiles option.
Since I have more then 500 profiles - can some one give me a easier way to complete this at ease.
Thanks & regards,
LAL

Hi Amit,
Quick questions ....are these profiles manually created profiles having no corresponding roles ?
If No : - Which means there are roles corresponding to each profile then ...Why don't you create a composite role with all these roles.
If Yes :- Which means they are manually created profiles ...then use t-code SU02 to create a composite profile with all these 500 profiles of yours and then add this composite profile to your single role through the method you mentioned
EDIT - Insert Authorisations - From profiles option.
Hope that helps and as Jurjen said...I am intrested too why do you want to insert these many profiles in a single role.

This seems like a strange task to me..... I am very curious about why you're doing this.
Have you considered speeding up the process with SECATT?

There is also a tool for creating roles out of profiles in transaction SU25. You might want to try that out as well.

Isn't that a one to one conversion tool? That would leave OP with 500+ roles he doesn't want (looking at the question)......

Yes, you are correct. Even if it could do more, it would not help much to import more than 316 profiles into a role anyway (unless only the authorization data was being imported and the profiles generated... which is what PFCG does).
You would need a program for that. There is a very only thread here which prototyped something similar. It is also a popular question in the ABAP forums. But it is still a **** in / **** out mechanism...

Julius

Thankx for all your responses, the reason for me to have this is we are in the process of creating a super roles which is modules specific, so we thought to merge all roles created for each module to create this super roles for each module so that this has access to all the data for that module.
Guys I would appreciate if you guys can give us some more best solutions to created these module specific super roles.
Thanks,

Create a single role per profile with SU25, as Julius suggested.
Put your singles into a composite per module. You can do this with SECATT.

If your roles are well defined for each module, then create composite roles for each module, with the composite role having single roles of same module

Hi Guys,
Thank you all your replies on this matter. I had worked out to a resolution by using SECATT and I have added all the profiles.

Just curious Amit why did you not use a composite role instead?
