Hi,
Suppose we want to upload the data only one time and we never use to upload then at that time we have to go for LSMW. We want to upload the data frequently then we have to go for Call transaction or Session method. In that the records to upload is low then call transaction is useful. And the data we have to upload is very large then we have to chose Session method.
Thanks
Ravi

Hi,
There are three methods for BDC:
1. Session methon
2. Call transaction method
3. Dialog method : this is oblolete method now so not considered.
In general, Session method is slow but consistent and used for huge data upload. Call transction method is fast but will not perform as consitant as session method for huge data upload.
Also see few differences as follows:
Session method.
1) synchronous processing.
2) can tranfer large amount of data.
3) processing is slower.
4) error log is created
5) data is not updated until session is processed.
Call transaction.
1) asynchronous processing
2) can transfer small amount of data
3) processing is faster.
4) errors need to be handled explicitly
5) data is updated automatically
Session method is to populate the data by filling BDC structure and keep as session to process from SM37 to post in appropriate Transaction.
Call transaction method is to post the data directly into the Transaction from an Executable program.
Session method SAP defined Function modules. in session method, no sy-subrc is returned due to the basic characteristic of session method. 'Call transaction' always returns Sy-subrc.
Hope this will help you.

Hi satya.
there is one more method called DIRECT INPUT METHOD in this method it does not process the screen but directly updates the database tables these are sap standerd data transfer program
ex: RMDATIND Transfer Material Master Data by Direct Input.
as for your question is concerned.
if you have very less data to be uploded and quickly or on line you can go for
Call Transaction method(on line) sycronous process here you have your program take care of error because no error log is created.
if you want to shedule the program and you have very large amount of data to be uploded
you can go for session method/batch Input(asyncronus process) which can be sheduled for later period when there is less load on the system and Can be planned and submitted in the background.
Why go for session method/batch Input ?
To Create Master Data
To move data from legacy System and replace Legacy system with SAP
To develop interface with legacy system using flat file
Rules For Batch Input
Data should be checked and validated before being transferred into the SAP system
Therefore Data should be entered through online Program or Transaction which we know has got automatic Validation and programmed validation.
Thanks and Regards,
