We have a request to keep track of a Custom Developed Smart Form. This document is sent our business partner . We need to store this document somewhere for viewing at a later time.

I was considering if this can be achieved via Archiving. We currently Archive few documents to an Secondary storage system (Tape).

I would appreciate if anyone could shed more light on this and the best solution.

Hello,

If you choose to do Image Archiving, you will need a 3rd Party Storage Solution or use SAP Content Server. You should not send this data to tape. You will need to send it to either optical storage or some type of WORM Hard Disk solution such as EMC Centera, NetApp's, or Filenet.

Hi,

You should go for Outgoing document archiving using ArchiveLink.

We create a PDF for these documents and they are stored (with indexes) in our document management system (web based). We use SAP Archivelink to show those PDF documents.

We currently use ArchiveLink to Archive IDocs, Workitems and USR* tables to a secondary storage system. Our storage type(OAC0) is RFC Archive and we use IBM-CommonStore to transfer data to the secondary storage system.

I would like to give a try on Image Archiving before our Business approves for any 3rd Party storage solution. Is there any way I can give them a demo using existing so called tools that I have (R/3, CommonStore, RFC, blah..blah...). If so what configuration, add'l coding is necessary to try out a demo scenario?
