IDOC Serialization EDIDC-SERIAL

Hi SAP Guru,

I'm trying to check if I can use EDIDC-SERIAL as a unique identifier (along with the partner number and message type) for the automonitoring and alerting I'm developing. I extracted items from EDIDC for one day only and found out that multiple IDOCs can share the same SERIAL number. My assumption is that all IDOCs processed at the same time is being grouped into one SERIAL number. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My question is if I already see a SERIAL number in the receiving system shared with let's say 10 IDOCs, can I already assume that the only 10 IDOCs only use the same SERIAL number from the sending system (provided all has the same message type and partner number)?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Hello,

Please review note 752194 for more information on this.

Please also have a look at the chapter in SAP Library

(ALE introduction and administration -> Administration of ALE functions

-> Serialization of messages).

You also can click on the icon 'Documentation' for serialization topics

in the transaction SALE.
