Idoc segment release importance

Hi all,

i have created Idoc segment. but there is check box "Released".

If i dont release it (dont check this check box) what is the impact or it is necessary to release it.

I'm not sure if I interpreted your query correct. Anyway, changing the 'Seg. release in IDoc type' will not change the actual version used on the sending side. It will only change, how the data is interpreted outside the SAP system (by the receiver).

So regardless of what is entered in the 'Seg. release in IDoc type' the application will always use the most recent segment fields when creating the IDoc data. The 'Seg. release in IDoc type' setting only becomes relevant on the receiving system where this information is used to inform the receiver which data fields it should process and which it can ignore.

Please dicsuss this problem with your EDI partner support people as they need to ensure they properly interpret the 'Seg. release in IDoc type' information being passed from the sending SAP system.
