Hyperlink to a Transaction using sap-object://CUST_TRAN

Dear Experts,

Greetings!

I have a requirement to open a Quality Notification Number (in display mode) for transaction QM03 via a hyperlink in Inbox.  I used sap-object://cust_tran as shown below.  But, it says an authorization error and when I checked with my authorization team they that the said authorization error is not correct.  Please help.

But, when I click on the Hyperlink from the SBWP inbox, I get an authorization error.

When I click on the Hyperlink from the Outlook inbox mail, I get windows error.

What program is behindd the protocol "sap-object" ? I don't know it. The protocols provided with the SAP GUI for Windows are "sapr3" and "saphtmlp" (same usage in fact). So I would say it's normal that Outlook can't do anything with your protocol. The protocols are stored in the registry under \HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Handler\ .

Moreover, I wonder how Outlook can identify the SAP server where to log in. Could you ask your team?

Usually we provide a shortcut file (.sap) which contains the object to start, the SAP server, the transaction... (probably other (better) ways)

Dear Sandra,

Yes. you are right that generally we provide the shortcut file as an attachment.  But, this time business requirement is not to have it as an attachment but to give it as a hyperlink.

Even, i am not aware of the protocol behind 'sap-object'.

Moreover, FYI, my system OS is 'Linux' machine type 'x86_64'.

Please suggest.

you can build such kind of hyperlink (here an example for QM02 ) . Just be sure to allow such service in SICF.

data(sapgui_link) = |http://{ your_sap_host_and_port  }/sap/public/bc/workflow/shortcut?sysid={ sy-sysid }&logonid=&client=100&langu={ user_language }&uname={ username }&transaction=*QM02&param=RIWO00-QMNUM%3d{ quality_notification }|.

At the end this will build a shortcut file, but you don't have to attach it.

Dear Lukasz,

Can i use the same thing in SO10 text, where I am maintaining the body of the email? Because, i tried it in SO10 and failed.

i am using  SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 FM to send the email.  FM READ_TEXT to read the SO10 text as the email body.

yes but then you need to put whole path in text without abap in between, means something like

http://your_sap_host_and_port/sap/public/bc/workflow/shortcut?sysid=NPL&logonid=&client=100&langu=EN&uname=DEVELOPER&transaction=*QM02

And with SO10 you must be careful, as sometimes it's replacing special characters so you may not receive the same mail body as an output. It's better to keep html files / or body in mime repository.

The best way to check if you've created properly the link is to paste it into browser.

Dear Lukasz,

I am able to see the Hyperlink in my email using the link that you suggested as it is used in SO10 text as a hyperlink.

But, when i click on hyperlink, it gives an error message.  And i could see its been directed to HTML page but not SAP GUI.

This page can’t be displayed

• Make sure the web address saphtmlp://htmlviewer.sap.com is correct.
• Look for the page with your search engine.
• Refresh the page in a few minutes.

Check in SICF if service is activated ( /sap/public/bc/workflow/shortcut ). If not then activate it or ask your Basis team to do it.

Also check with them if you have proper port settings in your http address.

Check the client. In my example it was hard-coded to 100 but you should put sy-mandt there. The rest looks ok.

Client is all OK.

I have checked it from My Outlook mail, SBWP Inbox item and directly from URL in the browser as well.  But, no luck.  the same error always.

Then I'd check with Basis / Network team if your host is reachable from your pc.

I am trying to use this method to generate a shortcut as well. For me it ONLY works if transaction=*SWNWIEX. If I put any other tcode for transaction the response header contains "Parameter transaction is invalid".

Any thoughts on this?
