how to show error message before saving sales order using sap code

Hi SAP experts,

I am working on task : how to show error message when I entered already existing customer purchase order number (VBKD -BSTKD) before saving sales order using sap code only (userexits, customer exits, BADI's etc). can any one help me out in this.
