How to handle message type E inside customer exit for BAPI_SHIPMENT_CREATE

Hi Experts,

I have an issue with customer exit in BAPI_SHIPMENT_CREATE, Some one throwing message type 'E' for some validation but issue is when message type 'E' triggering bapi coming out from calling method, means where BAPI_SHIPMENT_CREATE called. I want to catch that error after BAPI_SHIPMENT_CREATE and proceed with my requirement. Anyone can help me how can i do this.
