How to backup?

Hi,

I would like to know how to backp up my Package / ABAP program / Function Modules in an offline media and restore it in another SAP ERP system? Any material on this?

What do you mean by other SAP ERP System?But very well you can download all the programs w.r.t a package.There is a program which is doing the rounds in SDN Forum,search and get it.

Hi kiran,

I have 2 SAP ERP server. 1 server is mainly use for development and testing purpose, while the other is real-time running server. I have created an ABAP program at the development side and would like to deploy over to the other real-time server and also able to backpup the ABAP program. How should i go about it?

Rayden,

If I am not wrong you are talking about the landscape.Once the program is developed in DEV server we need to move it to Quality for Testing and then to Production(in your words real-time).For an object(in your words a program) to be moved from Developemnt to Quality or Developement to Production it should be assigned to a package(SE21) so that a transport request can be created.

Once the transport request is created we will release the request first from Development to Quality and then Development to Production.This is the only way how an object can be moved from Server to Server.

If this is not what you are looking for then revert with more details.

Hi Kiran,

That was informative. Beside deploy the object to the other server. I was also looking at whether is it possible to backup the whole package or part of the ABAP program into an offline media like CD-ROM. It would be useful if let say, both server crash I would still have my program.

Rayden,

You can download the entire program on to your desktop and then save it in any storage device.Once you open the program in se38 you will be able to see a button called SAVE AS LOCAL FILE which enables us to download the program in a notepad format.This way you have to download program by program.

But as I told you there is a program which is available in SDN forums which can dowload all the programs w.r.t a package in one shot.Search for it.
