Hi All,

I need to apply OSS note in development server and then transport it to quality and production. I want to know the procedure step by step of applying as first time I am doing it. When applying in the development server will it ask for the new transport number.

I also want to know the difference between SNOTE transaction and the SAP service market place where you can download the sap note from.

Thanks

Mark

One more thing experts, I have implemented the note and in the status it is saying Completely Implemented, does it mean that this note is been successfully implemented. How do I make sure required correction changes have been made.

Thanks

Mark

Excute SNOTE, search your OSS note no, if its available see the status CAN BE IMPLEMENTED, this case u can implement using SNOTE or apply through manual tips will be given in note section.

If the notes not available download from servie maket place.

Hi,

Go to Tr Code.SNote

1. Check the OSS no whether already been downloaded or not,

2. if not download it

3. it will be in the New tree.

4. FInd your note and double click on the same. then Pdf will open

5. Read it properly check whether it can be implemented it or cn not be implemented

6. If can be implemented then implemetnte the note and create a request for the same.

7. once implemented then go to consistant portion then change the status of the Notes for this you need to go to the SAP Note and change the note processing status to completed.

<b>

Note : Soms times the SAP tells to download the files from the Service.sap.com and for some notes u need to create a field or new objects. For this u need to get the Access key from ur team and change the same.</b>

Lastly go inside the report and check whether the changes have been done or not.

sometimes changes may not be there. this will lead to problem

Hope this will help you lot

Thanks

Shiva

SNOTE will be applied by Basis persons. They have full access, so can apply directly.

Applying OSS Notes: First get the OSS Notes details. Then U need to get the Access Key Number for the Program/FM etc...wherein U need to apply. After that go in change mode and apply the notes as specified and activate the code. U can test the requirement. During this action a Transport Request Number is generated.

U can use this transport request number to move to Quality & Production servers.

hi Mark,

SNOTE is the best and easy way to implement OSS notes. And also it is easy to keep track of notes that were put in.

The only other way I know is, to directly go to the object mentioned in the note and modify it. You will need access key to modify SAP std. objects.

U can check this link too

http://www.sapdevelopment.co.uk/tips/tips_snote.htm

Hi Mark,

Once you have the correct OSS note number you can download and apply the notes using the transaction SNOTE. The Notes has to be in "Can be Implemented " status for applying through SNOTE. The note cannot be applied using SNOTE when there are any manual steps to be followed like addition of parameters in Function Module or creating the table entries.

You don't require access keys when applying through SNOTE , but you require it when implementing manually. Sap service market place is the common portal where you could have all the information regarding SAP releases, notes information etc..

Hope this helps.

Can I implement the Note which is having the status "Can not be implemented",

I tried implementing a note initially it was having the status as "Can be implemented", then I got a message "SAP Note does not contain valid correction instructions", What does it mean.

How can I implement this note, if this is having the status as "Can not be implemented".

Thanks

Mark

Hi,

Check the manual instructions in the Notes and also check the support pack of your SAP system and the support pack of notes. if the support pack in your system is lower than the support pack of notes then only you can apply the notes.

For viewing the support pack information goto System->status and click the Magnifier symbol under the SAP System Data.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Open the PDF file andread the instructions given by the SAP. Then proceed accordingly.

The Can not be implemented means u have to do it manually by either creating some objects or download some patches from website and tell basis guy to upload the same.

Thanks

U can implement the note status as CANOT BE IMPLEMENTED by manual, u can get the instruction in note section for corresponding.

Hi

U should read the note before downloading it.

If the status is "Can not be implemented" it should mean this note probably was just implemented by some patch or it's not for your release.

So u can't implement it: you can try to do it manually of course.

SAP Note does not contain valid correction instructions: probably this note hasn't abap source or it can't find the point where the note has to be implemented.

I have a confusion here as I am doing it for first time.

I want to know one thing if a note is having the status as Can be implemented and the insturctions are given in the PDF files. Is one supposed to perform all those steps given in the pdf file himself or implementing note will take care of all the things.

I am not clear here, there are some insturctions given in the PDF file as the solution. So do I have to perform each by step myself or when I will click implement note button it will automatically take care of the implementation.

Thanks

Hi,

The SNOTE will take care of putting the ABAP Code changes only. If the Note has manual instructions like adding the parameters to Function module etc then it has to be taken care manually.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

for Can Be Implemented option the SAP it will handle automatically all the steps but you need to check code change after implementing the note.

One more thing the change will be seen commented and the inserted will be with TR no and you can easily check the implemented

Thanks

Hi

U can only check the programs updated by that note.

Anyway if SNOTE set that status the programs are updated: if ti was some problem SNOTE should advise you.

Do not forget to dobule-check the note whether manual corrections are necessary as well. In some cases (e.g. changes to parameters in a function module) you manually have to do your changes.
