Get Material Category from Tcode MM42 to create Material

Hi experts,

How do we get Material Category from Tcode MM42 to using BAPI create material number ? I am using BAPI 'BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA' but it doees not have the field MARA-ATTYP.

Isn't this specific for retail ? Try - > BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT

Hi experts,

How do we get Material Category from Tcode MM42 to using BAPI create material number ? I am using BAPI 'BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA' but it doees not have the field MARA-ATTYP.

Can you explain me more detaial ? In this BAPI you suggested, I can not find BAPI structure which has the field ATTYP.
