Hi,

ABAP workbench is more than Objet navigator( SE80) . you can go to object navigator from abap work bech also

From the word itself "ABAP workbench".

This is the place where you create or WORK in your ABAP program.

A BENCH is provided because it's hard do to programming when you're standing. You have to sit in a bench/chair.

Funny, but I hope you got the idea.
