Field exit for table control field

Hi,

In VF11 transaction I have to validate multiple billing documents before cancelling.

Is it possible to validate thru field exit..If so how can we use field exit for table control values..I tried to create field exit for data element vbeln..it is not working..

Field-exit doesn't work in a table control.
