When performing a su 53It appears that this transaction is needed when trying to perform mass updates or any updates. Is this reasonable. I am not sure why this would require Internet user maintenance. Any insight as to why this may be the case would be great thanks.

This SU53 error in this case is incorrect. I have seen this on some FI transaction codes. It would be better for you to run a ST01 trace for this error to find the real missing authorization.

JC - I've seen this check cause a "real" failure in ECC5 which is a bit of a pain. If I recall correctly it was on an SD tx & the client have a note pending on it.
