In General, In Enhancements we are having two types of exits.
They are User exits and Customer exits.
These screen exits comes under customer exits.
First when you need to develop any screen exit for particular transaction, you should check whether any exits are available for that transaction?
This is simple. First you will find the package.
How to find the package?
Go to the particular transaction, there in the menu bar you go to system--> status. Then click on the transaction. Then you will find the package.
For Example for ME21n the package is ME.
So, now go to SMOD, click on F4, Then you will be shown a pop up, bottom you will find information system. Click on that and there you will find a package. You give the package. and press enter you will finding all the exits for that particular transaction.
Then for your customer developmets you should go to CMOD, and test the exit that suits your requirement.
I think you will be having a doubt that which particular exit will suits as per your requirement?
Then you should go through the documentation of the exit. One more and the important thing is when you pick particular exit, you test it by putting break points in it.
When you pick one exit and give in CMOD, just there you click on the components tab, there you will find all the
1. Function module exits
2. Function codes.
3. Screen Areas.
4. Includes.
When you find any particular screen area for exit then you can implement screen exit for that transaction. SAP will provide some screen areas. So then you can enhance i.e., you can add your own fields to it.
You can do through SPRO configuration also. In General when you take for material master, there you will be having a tutorial in saptechnical.com, there you can have detail information there through SPRO configuration.
