the output of the program will become your spool. as you are running it as background job you don't need to write any coding or check the check box in your selection screen.
U no need to make any code changes as long as ur program is not doing any front end interactions like GUI_DOWNLOAD, ALV GRID display and dialog interactins like Popups etc.
Output is stored in spool. U can get the spools in SM37. Go to Sm37, Select date range and finished jobs check box and execute. Now if ur job finished running then u can see the spool number in next screen. Click on spool button u can see the report output.
What happend when u gave LOCL. U may get one status message. Just ignore that and save the job. After finishing the execution check the result in spool in SM37 transaction.
U can schedule the job from SM36 as well with a variant.
If you have already a check box to run the report in background than check how it is working now. If you feel to write any code for this code than write otherwise not.
As far as spool is concerned you will get a spool once you run the report in background and if everything is correct than you will get the spool once the report finish running in background.
