Editor does not lock everytime?!

Hi,

sometimes, I am believing in wonders. Just a few minutes ago, I realized, that I had opened the same program in two SAP-SE38-windows, both in change mode. I was able to change the coding in both windows and furthermore, I was able to save from both windows.

Did anyone had this problem, too?

Hi,

What release do you have? Just tried it on 7.02, but got the message:

"User BLABLA is currently editing ZBLABLA

Message no. EU510"

Thanks,

Peter

Very strange. Probable a bug.

Yes, of course it's a bug. That's why I posted. It's hard to reproduce, but it occurs!

If you have a reproducable example, it's better to open an OSS message and try to get support from SAP directly (even if it could take some time).

The service? Which service?

Hi,

I believe you better speak with your basis people.

I think that this is about a window service that should be active in the application server

It's worth to check if the ENQ process is running (eg in SM50).

It's a seldom occurring problem, in all other cases all enqueue steps are running properly.

Hi Ralf,

maybe there is an issue in enqueue server settings or services

Hi

may be the lock table might have refreshed,

     try this

     >open a program in editor.

     >goto SM12 delete the lock for the program.

     >open same program

you will be able to edit in both.

Hm. You mean: If I prick a knife in the wheel of my car, the air turns out.

Of course, I did NOT delete the lock entry - then I wouldn't have a reason to describe the problem!

I agree with Michael. It is worth checking the enqueue service settings.

Profile parameters : Mainly enque/con_timeout and enque/con_retries.

It seems that the system is not able to allocate an ENQ work process(Which should always be in an Central Instance) for whatever reason .

It is also worth checking the system log(SM21). Not sure SAP does post something there .
