Dear All,
I am new to ecatt testing and gone thru' the blogs and understood how to create test script, test configuration etc.
Now I need to understand what is the use of developing the test scripts. If I do the recording properly then there will be no error message. Am i right?
How to analyse the test scenario?
How can i intimate the end user like these are the scenarios that we have included in the test script?
Is this ecatt used by end user for testing or only for the consultant?
Regards,
Raj

Hello Raj,
Yes eCATTs are used by end users aswell to make sure that the Business processes are working as intended.
Regarding the reason to develop test scripts , test scripts are just the automated version of the manual test effort.
So the operations that you perform manually are replaced by the automated scripts so that the testing happens at the faster rate, more accurately and without the manual intervension.
At first we need to decide on the business process which are of high priority to the customers and try to automate those processes.
By doing this we can just execute our scripts created on a weekly or biweekly fashion or when the application is enhanced just to ensure that the important processes are working as expected.
Each test script has the name , we need to name the script accordingly which signifies as to what operation is this script created, more information can be given inside the script as comments
as to what operation the script does.
Test scenarios can be analysed by doing the database checks, message checks.
Let me know if you need any further info.
Thanks & Best regards,
Ajay

Hello Ajay,
Thanks for your valuable input.
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong -
1. ecatt is used mainly for very high priority business scenarios.
2. recorded test scripts will be used to test after some enhancement is done so that business scenarios are not affected by the enhancement.
Thanks,
Raj

Hello Raj,
You are right ecatts are used for top priority processes, processes which are commonly used by customers, and these ecatt scripts are executed whenever there is any enhancments just to check if the enhancments have not affected the earlier functionality.
Let me know if you need any further info.
