Doubt with BDC

Hi,

I have a doubt regarding BDC . I want to do BDC for say VA01 transaction for variable line items . How will the user maintain the excel sheet . How does our BDC program know the number of line items for a particular Sales Order.

Can anyone help me with the code and more importantly how to maintain the excel sheet

Hi arshad,

1. The data from flat file will be read into one internal table.

2. After that in our logic,

we have to build two different internal tables.

a) one for header sales order

b) another for line items, for each sales order.

3. The flat file should consist header sales order number,

in each record of line item.

4. So that, we can sort and using some logic,

bunch out / group

each header and their respecitve line items.

Hi,

they should maintain the file by including 'H' for header and 'I' for item.

Hi Arshad,

We do a BDc when we already have the data from a legacy system which is temporarily stored in the files.

The file data will be in the form of records .

Each record can in general, will have an indicator which tells us that it is a header or an item.

The set of items that follow a header , are all its items.

Remember one thing.

The developer has got nothing to do with building a file in an inbound scenario(From file to SAP).

First of all , before you move your data from excel sheet to the internal table, you need to specify a location for uploading the excel sheet into your internal table.

for this u need to use two specific FM's .

the first one for file selection : WS_FILENAME_GET.

The second one for data upload : TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP.

Afetr doing this the regular part of mapping comes and then we can run the session and then execute and release it.

Hi,

In my excel sheet i ahve a column which is set to HEADER if it is header details.

I upload the flat file into an internal table. I split this data in the internal table into two tables: internal table for header details and internal table for item level details. The internal table having the item level details has an additional column HNO which tells which header the item belongs to. This BDC is for ME21.
