A domain describes the technical attributes of a field, such as the data

type or the number of positions in a field. The domain defines primarily

a value range describing the valid data values for the fields referring

to this domain.

Different technical fields of the same type can be combined in a domain.

Fields referring to the same domain are changed at the same time when a

domain is changed. This ensures the consistency of these fields.

Domain contains the Technical attributes of the field.

It consistes of the data element information.

It gives the check table,value table informtion.

Check table information is one which gives u foreign key relationship information.

Value table gives u all the possible entries for that particular field.

A Domain can one or more data eelments.

We can create our own domains.

Domain is a place where we can define Technical attributes of the field which includes data type, no. of chars, output length, conversion routine, case of the data and value range.

If we create domain we can modify uppercase to lowercase. But its not possible in built-in type.

Difference between domain & built-in type is,

Domain will give list of values.

Once we create domain, we can use for other fields also.
