It really depends client to client, creating technical specs before development is rare.

but you should get the approval from your team lead to start working on the program through email, gather functional specs from team lead or functional resource. So usually nothing before development, but ask the team lead what is the approach for documents here, do they create technical specs before development or after development. It is easier and faster to create them after development, but they only act as reference for future in that case. They are more useful before development, but they take more time in this case.

Rehman, pls explain me clearly about once we complete the coding part and after filling the Tspec..s and what's next.

Let's say unit testing is also done.

Then next?

Then what about request number of my object?

shall i have to release the request myself?

pls explain this process clearly ?

1. you get the Functional Doc

2. Write the technical Doc and send for approval from Quality contorl

3. Once approved start coding and assign the Transport req number

4. Unit testing by urself

5. Code review

6. other testing.. integration test-module test-regressive test etc...;

7. if all are OK , release the task in se10 and send an email to Basis guy to transport it to test environment or the Prd or validation system.

Nothing is a hard and fast rule, but usually you get the functional specs first, then you start coding at this time you have to create the transport for the program, when you will save the program for first time, it will ask you to create the transport.

When you complete the program in DEV, then you do unit test by yourself, after success you send an email to your team lead, cc that to functional resource, team lead may do the code review and functional guy might want to do some testing in DEV. Then the functional guy will send a request to rlease the transport and send the program to QA system. Ask your team lead if you have to wait for somebody's approval if the functional person wants to release the program. After approval, you go to SE10 and release the task(s) and the transport. Then you can notify BASIS person that you have released the transport and they can move it to QA.

Functional person will do some testing in QA system, and if satisfied he will get it transported to production, you do not have to do anything in that. But at this point you may be asked to create the Technical Specs for the progrm.

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

But, I have the following doubts with regard to package creation and change request:

1. Will the package is given by the TL or do I have to create a package?

2. Will the change request be created by myself?

3. During the release of the request.. my doubt is how to release a particular object? bcoz there can be n number of objects under a single request/task number. But we can release only request which inturn contains objects. If there is only one object under a request then we can go a head and release it. If there are more than one object under the request then all the objects will be released but i have to release only my object. How this can be achieved?

Can i take it for granted that one request should have only one object so that i can safely go a head and release that object?

there will a custom package created before.. for all the changes you do related to module.. like for EX: SD you have ZSD / ZSDC

Change request will be created by urself using SE10 or SE09

you create diff req numbers for diff objeect.. so you can release one single task of the transport request number. You select the tast number and hit the release button on the menu bar.

you are getting the answers but you are not marking all the helpful answers with points ..

Answer:

It depends on the object you are working.. if you are doing a report you can find the request number in the version management.

If its a new development you need to create a new transport req number.. but dont expect any things for a TL to do for you.. he hired you to help him.. not to create mote work to him.
