What is a directory , & how does it differ from folder

Directory is the Collection of Folders and folder is a sub set of directory.

As far as i know, Directory we speak during paths. Folder is in GUI Context. Both are same.

Directory is ued to store the files. All these directories are present in application server.

Directory is nothing but a place to keep the folders. Folders will contain the files.

Just goto to transaction code al11..it is sap directory..here u can see ur files in the application servers..under ur respective folder..
