Hi,
I have a requirement, where if a person login to the system with different language, whenever he execute the program, the field description should come in the language he logged on.
It is working fine with EN, but when i tried in DE(German) only field names were displaying( instead of its description, only field name). So how to resolve this?
As per my knowledge, I can do with 2 select queries
SELECT * FROM /<table> INTO itab
WHERE field = itab-field
AND langu = sy-langu. "#EC *
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
SELECT * FROM <table> INTO itab
WHERE field = itab-field
AND langu = 'EN'. "#EC *
ENDIF.
I am not sure about it. kindly help me
Regards,
Kiran

For this, doing SE63 and changing language with respect to the language required is the best one.. or another way is using Translator....
thanks for all ur replies

I believe the issue is with the translations, i.e. maintain the translation in Transaction SE63 for the field descriptions in th respective languages, your issue will get resolved.

Hi Kiran,
Could you please explain in detail, Which table you are using to fetch description.
Better you maintain translation using SE63.

Hi All,
My issue is different languages apart from english. whenever the enduser Login to sap with German or any other language, a Tcode(custom) should display the field description in its input entry.
For English it is working superfine, but for other language, it is not working. it is displaying only field name, not its description of the language that the user had logged on.

If you are talking about translation of selection screen fields then go to text elements --> selection texts --> then go to Translation, That will help you.

Hello Kiran,
If it is a Z report then we have to maintain the translation of the text elements for whatever languages you need or the users login.

Hi..
I know I can do the translation by going in Text element -> selection Text.

Hi Niraj,
Cant it be done by using Select Statements? using code inspector!
SELECT * FROM /<table> INTO itab
WHERE field = itab-field
AND langu = sy-langu. "#EC *
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
SELECT * FROM <table> INTO itab
WHERE field = itab-field
AND langu = 'EN'. "#EC *
ENDIF.

Hi Kiran,
which table are you using to fetch the description.
However that logic will also work only thing is that description should be maintain in particular table in logging language.

Hi Kiran,
You have to maintain different language text in table DD01T.
Then according to log in language system will fetch and display.

Hi,
The select query will give you correct results only if values are maintained for that language. So, you need to get confirmation form the FA for the data to be maintained in the respective language.
If the data is not maintained the you will have to maintain the translations as suggested above for all the languages which user would log in with.
