Hi,

As far as i know we cannot maintain database, help or projection view, then why we have the field 'Data Browser/Table View Maint.' in these view. I have tried with database view. i set the value of the flag as 'Database maintenance allowed' but i am not able to maintain it in the transaction SE54 or SM30.

Also please tell me exactly what these transaction (SE54 and SM30) do and what is the difference between both these transactions.

thanks,

tanmaya

Hi,

In SE55 you can create the screen that will be used by SM30 to edit/display data.

So, in SE55 you create (only one time) the screen, and in SE11 you inform your table do edit/display in daily work.

Best regards,

Hi,

In SM30 do you receive message "Table/View xxxx not in the Dictionary" or "The maintenance dialog for xxxx is incomplete or not defined "? O you can´t "maintain" / "edit" the data?

Best regards,

If it is marked for maintenance in the dictionary definition in SE11, and if you have the authorization, you'll be able to maintain entries in SE16, even if there is no maintenance view.

hi,

after self studying what i get is we cannot maintain database views in SE54 and SM30. however, we can maintain and create new entries in se16 provided only one table is used in the database view and table maintenance flag have ' maintenance allowed ' value. hope this info will help others....correct me if i am wrong and if you have any other idea about the databse view.

thanks

In SAP NetWeaver 7.0, there is the warning text You can only read database views with more than one table displayed in SE11 Maintenance status tab, just above the "display/maintenance allowed" flag, don't you have it?

ah okay. When you try to create the table maintenance dialog, SAP sends error message "Only use views of type "Maintenance view"" (Message no. SV309)

You may convert the view type from database to maintenance, using a menu of SE11. If you don't want to alter the original view, copy it and convert the duplicate.

Yes,

thats what i am saying. if we can't maintain the field then why that attribute 'Data Browser/Table View Maint' is. i studied it and got to know that only significance of that attribute is we can maintain fields in SE16.

thanks
