There is a characteristic in ct04 for the a field in Msc5n. When entering the data into msc5n at that particular field when the data from the table is selected it is giving an error saying value "" cannot be selected . Please hlep me in this regard

You must log in to <a href="http://service.sap.com">SAP Marketplace</a> You need a valid user for that...Then you could search for the corresponding OSS Notes (Notes released by SAP that contains corrections to program errors).
Once you have find the note, you can use transaction <b>SNOTE</b> to load the correction into SAP.

I dont have to access to the SAP market place. Is there any other way to figure it out.

Not sure...Haven't work with CT04...What's the name of the field thats giving you the error?

The error actually is in MSC5N . A charactersitic populated using ct04 is giving an error.

where to see the message number and ID? The message it is showing up is "value "" cannot be selected.

Diagnosis
From a value hierarchy, you want to choose a value that has subordinate values. This is not possible. You can only choose the lowest values in a value hierarchy.
Procedure
Explode the structure down to the lowest values and choose one of these.

I have seen the long text but does not make much sense to me becuse the field in quesiton is a primary key of a table. So I am clueless

Hi experts,
when I am trying to enter value for a characteristic of a material in msc5n using a check table I am getting an error <b>"VALUE "" CANNOT BE SELECTED</b>". When I checked for the long text it said
