Hi All,
I am modifying an existing table. I am creating a new data element and data domain. I have also adjusted table in se14. When I transport data element and domain, will the table data remain the same. Can you also tell me how does the transport know that the data element and domain that I have created is to be bound to the table that I am working on. Because I have transported a custom domain earlier and it was sitting in the box but not bound to the table in Q.
Thanks.

Hi,
That data element could be already in a CR ...Or it must be a local object..
Goto -> object directory entry -> there check the development class...if it is $TMP..means it is a local object and not assigned to cr.
Change the development class there and save ..not it will ask for a cr..
Thanks,
Naren

the new dataelement & domain created has a request no...Now, u need to use it in a table which also has the same request number....so everything goes on well with transport request...
Now, as ur changing field properties, data might get affected...Store data in some location...move request & check whether affected or not...If affected populate the stored data into the table.

I have a lil problem here. When I change the data element in a prgm its not asking me for a transport request. But when I create data element or domain its asking me for tp no.
If I am able to get a tp no when I change the data element in the table it should be fine.
For other custom tables when I try to change the data elemnt in the table its asking me tp no.
Thanks.

Hi,
For the data element..
Check the version management..
Utilities -> versions -> version management..
In there check if the data element is assigned to a cr...
You can also check it in the version management goto -> display requests..THis will check if the data element is assigned to a CR..
Thanks,

Thanks,
Vijay.
