client dependent means u cannot use the tables in all the clients...

clinet indepoendent tables can be used in all the clients which u r logging.

To simply say,if MANDT field is there in the table then its client dependent table else client independent.

Client dependent Means if you create that data in one client is limited to that client only and it is not accessable in other clients

Like SAP SCRIPTS and STD texts data

where as Client Independent means the data if you create in one client that is available in that as well as in other clients

Like All dictionary Objects data and Repository objects data like Programs, Fun modules, tables etc

when we add a field MANDT of type MANDT then our table is client dependent and is visible to only that client. But if this Field is not added to the table then we can access the table using any client number

Hi

If you Maintain MANDT field in the table as Key field that table will become CLIENT DEPENDENT table

and we have have to use CLIENT SPCIFIED in all SQL commands when we use for this table

If this field is not there then it is client independent.

Coming to Objects Scripts,Std Texts are client dependent Objects where as other repositiory objects like Programs, FuUn modules , Dictionary objects etc are client independent.

hi,

CLIENT DEPENDENT TABLES - when u have system field SY-MANDT [system field for current user ] then that tables are called as client dependent tables and they can't be accessed by others clients.

for ex: sap scripts, subroutines, tables with mandt filed are client dependent tables.

CLIENT INDEPENDENT TABLES: tables in data dictionary are client independent. they can accessed by any client.

for ex: smart forms, mesaage classes, database tables, data elements, data domains, ........ ............ are client inpendent.

Hi,

in a SAP system there are various clients say in developement systen u may have clients like 100, 200, 300.

Client dependenta table means tables which data is diffecent for diffectednt clients. this is acheved by adding field with mandt data elemetn type . system will automatically update data of current cleint id

client independent means its data is common for all clients means data manupulated in any client will be refelected to all other clients. this table doesnot have mandt field.

Hi

You should be knowing that the configurations you are doing are getting updated in soem database tables finally.

The database tables will have one field called MANDT which is the client number. If a database table has this field, then it is called client dependent tables. Any transports updating such tables are called as Client dependent transports.

Most of the configuration(functional) changes are client dependent changes.

On the contrary, there are certain database tables which dont have this field. Hence in one Application server, if there are multiple client, the change done will be reflected in all the clients as the database table is same. Most of the development transports fall under client independent transports. Some of the functional transports like condition table are also client independent transports.

If there are multiple clients in an Application server, a client dependent transport needs to be moved to all the clients by means of a client copy for that particular object through t.code SCC1. For client independent transport, this is not needed. Once a change is done, it will be reflected in all clients within that application server, and hence no transport is necessary.
