not sure if I can answer your question inclusively. Here are some thoughts:
- you should (just like for any application) try to come up with a good software design (layering, seperation of concerns etc.)
- Open SQL guidelines (the '5 golden rules'): many guidelines for high-performance ABAP programming will not change fundamentally when running on SAP HANA, try to consider them, e.g. use field lists instead of SELECT *, use JOINS where possible (instead of nested SELECTS or SELECT... FOR ALL ENTRIES)...
- think about whether your application in the future will only support SAP HANA or all databases
- ensure to encapsulate logic which you might later want to run inside the database
- don't only think about performance - how else could SAP HANA improve the user experience of your application (e.g. new search possibilities to populate fields)?
- read (in case you have not done it already) Tobias Trapp's blog about his first experience with ABAP for SAP HANA
- try to familiarize yourself with 7.4 early (I know that we currently have not published a lot of information, but e.g. during TechEd CD202 will give an outlook and we are also working on documents for SCN)
- familiarize yourself with advanced SQL features and how to work with SQL script which you might need when implementing calculation views / stored procedures in SAP HANA later (even though my general suggestion when working with ABAP would be to use Open SQL as much as possible and only switch to SAP HANA specific coding when this can bring an additional advantage)
